Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], March 18: A grand celebration of cinema and cultural expression, the Ahmedabad International Film Festival (AIFF) is set to take place on April 25 at Tagore Hall, Ahmedabad.

Dedicated to recognizing and honoring emerging talent, AIFF provides a platform for young directors, scriptwriters, editors, cinematographers, actors, and technicians to showcase their work.

Interestingly, AIFF has been conceptualized and executed by a spiritual leader Shri Omguru, who suffers from 80% physical disability since the age of 8.

An embodiment of determination and passion, Omguru conceptualized AIFF, proving that dedication to art, literature, and culture transcends all obstacles. He believes that true inspiration lies beyond faith and religion—it resides in art, knowledge, and service to humanity.

This year, AIFF received an overwhelming response, with over 3,600 films, documentaries, short films, and music videos from 105 countries, making it one of India’s most diverse and inclusive cinematic platforms. Over the years, AIFF has built a distinct identity in the international cinema landscape.

Saint Shri Omguru’s Journey in Film and Art

During his college years, Saint Shri Omguru wrote and directed three plays. In 2022, he created two impactful short films, “Gamdhani” and “Vardan Ke Shraap?”, serving as their writer, director, and producer. These films deliver powerful messages to society.

As part of AIFF, he has initiated free workshops for aspiring filmmakers covering screenplay writing, cinematography, direction, and editing. The festival also provides professional guidance and support to emerging artists and technicians.

    Unique Features of AIFF

    • Free entry for new filmmakers
    • Complimentary accommodation for all nominated filmmakers
    • No charges for the awards ceremony, making it a first-of-its-kind initiative globally
    • Special cultural tours of Ahmedabad’s historic sites for international guests, showcasing India’s rich heritage
    • Beyond Cinema – Saint Shri Omguru’s Multifaceted Contributions

Saint Shri Omguru is not just a filmmaker but also a renowned spiritual leader, poet, social activist, and author. He has written over 20 books on social order, management, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel’s life, and Vedanta. His literary works include “Omkar Chalisa,” “Navdurga Chalisa,” “Bar Jyotirling Chalisa,” “Shrikrishna Bavani,” “Shrimad Bhagwat Chalisa,” “Sundarkand Chalisa,” “Chardham Chalisa” and many others on spiritual wisdom and philosophy.

Since 1996, he has been actively working for the empowerment of differently-abled people. In 2016, he received the National Award from then President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, and in 2019, he was honoured with the Glory of Gujarat Award by the then-Governor of Gujarat, O.P. Kohli. He believes that mental defeat is the real disability, while true strength comes from inspiration.

    Vision for Economic Empowerment

Saint Shri Omguru advocates for India’s self-reliance through cooperative economic models, inspired by the “Kamdhenu Cooperative Credit & Supply Society Ltd.” initiative. He firmly believes that India, though a spiritual leader, remains socially and economically developing. To transform into a developed nation, every Indian above 18 years should be economically active and contribute to the economy.

He argues that unemployment is not the real issue, but a lack of willingness to work is. Instead of blaming job shortages, individuals must embrace responsibility, overcome laziness, and work toward personal and national development.

The Ahmedabad International Film Festival is not just an event—it is a revolution, driven by a person who believes that “Nothing is Impossible.”
