    PM Calls for Innovation to Address Societal Challenges

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the youth to prioritize innovation and leverage new technologies to tackle the pressing challenges facing India.

    Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], December 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the youth to prioritize innovation and leverage new technologies to tackle the pressing challenges facing India.

    The 11th edition of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH), themed “Coding for Change”, saw a successful 36-hour software marathon hosted by New Horizon College of Engineering (NHCE), Bengaluru. This prestigious event brought together hundreds of students nationwide to collaborate on innovative solutions to national problems.

    During the hackathon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted virtually with students, focusing on the Namami Gange initiative, a project aimed at cleaning and rejuvenating the River Ganga. Highlighting the upcoming Kumbh Mela, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to address societal challenges and urged students to align their efforts with the government’s vision of a Developed India by 2047 (Viksit Bharat 2047).

    Inspiring Words from the Prime Minister

    PM Modi highlighted the significance of integrating innovation into problem-solving and encouraged students to contribute towards government-led educational and professional initiatives. He stressed the critical role of technology in managing resources like water and preserving India’s natural lifelines.

    Student Insights

    Dev Soni, a participant from LNM Institute of Information Technology, Jaipur, expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister’s insights on water management, the Namami Gange project, and watershed development. “The information shared by the PM was invaluable, and the hackathon aims to create groundbreaking innovations on these topics,” he said.

    Another participant, Tanvi Bansir from LNM Institute, shared, “Our team’s goal is to design a sustainable solution to prevent pollution and rejuvenate the River Ganga, aligning with the Namami Gange mission.”

    NHCE: A Hub for Innovation

    NHCE was honored to be selected as the Nodal Center for SIH for the second consecutive year. This year’s event hosted teams from 34 higher education institutions across 11 states, who collaborated to address problem statements related to the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s National Mission for Clean Ganga, the Central Ground Water Board, and MathWorks.

    Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the 36-hour coding marathon in the presence of AICTE Chairman Prof. T.G. Sitharam and Vice Chairman Dr. Abhay Jere, emphasizing the importance of the hackathon in fostering innovation.

    The event at NHCE was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Prapulla Galphade, Program Management Director, Cadence Design Systems; Mr. Shailendra Nath, Scientist D, Central Ground Water Board; and Dr. Manjunath, Principal, NHCE.
