    Yi Ahmedabad’s Project Masoom Impacts Over 6,000 Children in February

    Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], February 27: Project Masoom, a child safety awareness initiative led by Young Indians (Yi) Ahmedabad, reached over 6,000 children through more than 100 structured sessions and engagement activities across the city during February.

    Yi Ahmedabad participated in the Run for Every Child Marathon, where the team, comprising professional trainers, conducted live engagement activities and distributed 700 child safety books.   At community platforms such as Riverfront Fiesta and Happy Street in Ahmedabad, more than 600 children were educated about safe and unsafe touch.

    Throughout February, the team conducted 47 sessions on child sexual abuse awareness, reaching 2,126 children. In addition, six adolescence education sessions were organised for students of standards 8 and 12, impacting 338 adolescents. The initiative also delivered 53 Digilante sessions focused on digital safety, sensitising 2,467 children to the risks associated with online engagement.

    Rohan Jardosh, Chair of Masoom, Yi Ahmedabad, said, “Through Project Masoom, we are not only educating children about their rights and personal safety but also empowering them to speak up. We are doing this because awareness is the first step toward prevention. When children understand the difference between good touch and bad touch, they are better equipped to protect themselves and seek help. Our outreach reflects the commitment of our volunteers, educators, and partners to create a safer environment for every child.”

    Project Masoom is dedicated to educating students about personal safety and protection from abuse. Trained professionals conduct age-appropriate sessions about understanding safe and unsafe touch, recognising uncomfortable or unsafe situations, learning how to say no and seek help, awareness about the Childline 1098 helpline, and a basic understanding of the POCSO Act.     The project reaches children across private and government schools in Ahmedabad, underprivileged communities, slum areas, and other segments. During sessions, children are encouraged to share experiences in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

    With sustained efforts, Project Masoom continues to work towards its core objective of nurturing a generation of aware, confident, and protected children who understand their rights, recognise unsafe situations, and know whom to approach for help.
