    Kochi (Kerala) [India], April 9: The four-day international conference of coloproctology surgeons, Worldcon 2025, was organised in Kochi. The grand event was held at the Gokulam Convention Centre, Kaloor. The formal inauguration was conducted by Prof. Dr. M.C. Mishra, former Director of AIIMS Delhi. The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. R. Padmakumar, Patron of Worldcon, and the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Madhukar Pai, Organising Chairman of Worldcon.

    The event was attended by a large number of eminent coloproctology surgeons from both India and abroad.

    As part of Worldcon 2025, a convocation ceremony was held. Speaking at the event, Dr. M.C. Mishra highlighted that regular surgical training and continuing medical education programs play a crucial role in advancing patient care and cure. During the ceremony, over 400 surgeons were awarded the FISCP (Fellowship of the International Society of Coloproctology).

    The conference also featured live hands-on training sessions for surgeons in advanced surgical techniques including laser surgery, stapler procedures, colonoscopy, and VAFT (Video-Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment). More than 700 specialists participated in these training sessions.

    According to Conference Manager Ms Premna Subin, the international conference which continued until April 6, brought together a wide variety of events, experts and scientific sessions.

    A special occasion of the event was the presentation of an Honorary Fellowship to eminent surgeon Dr. R. Padmakumar, in recognition of his significant contributions to coloproctology education and training.

    Dr. Resin Rajan delivered the vote of thanks at the ceremony. Prominent medical professionals who attended the inaugural function included Dr. Prashanth Rahate, Dr. Muhammad Ismail (Chairman, ASI Kerala), Dr. L.D. Ladukar (Secretary, ISCP), Dr. Shanthi Varthani (Treasurer, ISCP), and Dr. Dinesh Shah (Convener, ISCP Scientific Committee).
