Her journey into urban planning began in her childhood in Mumbai, where she first experienced how well-designed spaces could positively shape lives. “When my family moved to a building with a lawn and space to play with other kids, it changed how I felt and grew.” Vaidehi reflects.

One of her most notable contributions is the Open Space Masterplan for NYCHA, which has become a benchmark in the urban planning industry. More recently, in partnership with non-profit partners, Vaidehi facilitated investments of over ₹100 Crores for new public space projects for low-income New Yorkers.

Vaidehi’s recognition by ABNY highlights her role in driving change across key areas such as urban planning, transportation, parks, sanitation, and climate resilience. Her award-winning efforts at NYCHA have set a powerful example of how public sector initiatives can lead to innovative and sustainable urban solutions. Expressing her gratitude for the recognition, Vaidehi emphasizes the collective nature of her achievements. “This acknowledgment reflects the strength of partnerships and collaborations that make New York City’s public housing projects impactful.”

After completing her undergraduate studies at the I.E.S. College of Architecture in Mumbai, Vaidehi followed her pursuit of advanced degrees, including a master’s in Urban Placemaking and Management at New York City’s Pratt Institute. This shaped her into a leader in public sector innovation.
