Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], August 7: In a landmark celebration of Gujarati comedy, The Comedy Factory, Gujarat’s pioneering entertainment collective, hosted a grand press conference in Ahmedabad to mark 14 years of revolutionising regional entertainment and to commemorate the extraordinary global success of its flagship act – The Lavari Show.
What began in 2011 as a homegrown comedy group has now evolved into a global cultural phenomenon. With over 100 million digital views and 87 live shows across 10 countries, The Lavari Show has become the most successful Gujarati comedy tour in history — and one of the biggest regional live comedy shows in the world.
The wildly popular live chat show — unscripted, unfiltered, and hilariously rooted in Gujarati humour — features crowd-favourite comedians Manan Desai, Chirayu Mistry, Deep Vaidya, and Om Bhatt. Their unique blend of improvisational wit and local flavour has struck a chord with audiences across the globe — from Dublin to Dubai, Berlin to Bangkok.
“We never imagined four Gujarati guys talking nonsense on stage would become a global sensation,” said Manan Desai, Comedian and Programming Head, The Comedy Factory. “The Lavari Show is raw, real, and proudly Gujarati. We’ve proven that our language and culture aren’t limitations — they’re our greatest strengths.”
At the press event, The Comedy Factory announced its next major milestone: a goal of completing 100 international and domestic shows by the end of 2025, with confirmed upcoming performances in Mumbai (25 Aug), Ahmedabad (26 Aug), Singapore (29 Aug), and Bangkok (31 Aug). Shows in Dubai, Nairobi, and Tanzania are also in the pipeline.
This journey of success is powered by the sharp vision and leadership of Vidya Desai, Managing Director of The Comedy Factory.
“From Zakir Khan to The Lavari Show, we’ve created a space where India’s top comics and homegrown Gujarati talent thrive,” said Vidya Desai. “Our mission is simple — to make Gujarati youth laugh in their own language again, and to put Gujarati comedy on the global stage. And this is just the beginning.”
Beyond live shows, The Comedy Factory has played a transformative role in Gujarat’s entertainment ecosystem. From viral hits like Katko and Garba Shuffle to sold-out stand-up specials and YouTube stardom, it has helped forge a new identity for regional content creators.
This global expansion has been made possible through collaborations with international partners including Be United (USA), Zeppelin (UK), Millennial Events (Canada), The Laughter Factory and Marching Elephants (Australia & NZ), among others.
With The Lavari Show reaching new heights and a clear roadmap for international growth, The Comedy Factory has firmly established itself as a global ambassador for Gujarati humour.
As Gujarat’s comedy wave rides into the future, one thing is certain — Gujarati comedy is no longer local. It’s global. And it’s Lavari-level loud.
