The theme was ‘The Role of Forensic Science in Effective Implementation of New Criminal Laws and Combating Terrorism’.

Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge Supreme Court of India; Shri R Venkataramani, Attorney General of India; Hon’ble Justice V Ramasubramanian; Chairperson NHRC; Shri Manan Kumar Mishra, Chairman Bar Council of India and Shri Govind Mohan, Union Home Secretary graced the Inaugural Ceremony of the Summit

“Unfolding Forensics”, a judicial primer for courts prepared by National Forensic Sciences University and ‘Proceedings of All India Forensic Sciences Summit 2025’ were also launched by Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah. Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah distributed the prizes to the winners of the “All India Forensic Science Hackathon” and “Inter-campus Hindi competition”.

Hon’ble Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Cooperation, Government of India, Shri Amit Shah said PM Modi’s visionary leadership has brought significant transformation to the country’s criminal justice system. He emphasized that a system has been established where neither the accused nor the complainant is subjected to injustice. To ensure this balance, integrating forensic science into the criminal justice process is essential.

Shri Shah highlighted that the steps taken in 2009 and 2020 to establish the Forensic Science University are not only producing skilled professionals but also paving the way for research across various fields. He noted that the university has become a trusted institution for forensic analysis in complex cases and has also evolved into a hub for equipping the country’s forensic laboratories with modern technology. He further added that the university offers a wide range of programs, including degree, diploma, PhD, and research courses. Additionally, it has developed and adopted numerous indigenous technologies and has created toolkits to supply these innovations to police forces across the nation.

Union Home Minister said that due to the farsightedness of PM Modi, we had established the National Forensic Sciences University in the year 2020 itself, while three new criminal laws came into force in 2024. He called for close collaboration between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Forensic Sciences University to work toward building a crime-free society through scientific solutions. Union Home Minister said that, during the conference, young individuals were recognized for their outstanding performance in the hackathon and their efforts to promote the use of the Hindi language.

Padma Shri Awardee Dr J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU, said that the university initiated five programs and currently operates seventy-two academic courses. NFSU imparted knowledge of Forensic Science and allied subjects to around 50,000 officers globally. The university works with a Novel Educational Model. The model integrates education, research, training, and consultancy and investigation. NFSU plans to expand from 10 to 19 campuses soon.

International delegates, forensic experts, officers from law enforcement agencies, and students were present during the event.
