Nationwide Historic Initiative by Shri Jain Dharmik Sikshan Sangh

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 20: The annual religious examination organized by Shri Jain Dharmik Sikshan Sangh witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 27,000 students from Jain pathshalas across Mumbai this year. Notably, for the first time, the examination was conducted simultaneously across India on the same day and at the same time, spanning more than 100 examination centers, from Standard 1 to Standard 36. This initiative has been recorded as a historic and proud milestone in the history of Jain Dharmik Sikshan sangh

The auspicious event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Sangh’s Vice President Sanjaybhai Jeevanlal Shah, Women’s Wing Vice President Alpaben Sanjaybhai Shah, Treasurer-Ashok Narsinh Charla, and Jawaharlal Motilal Shah. During the examination held at Shakuntala School, office bearers of the Sangh visited various examination centers to encourage and guide the students.

Office bearers emphasized that “Pathshala is the very soul of Jain Shasan.” Children nurtured in pathshalas go on to become  pandits & all mahila sikshika devoted shravaks and shravikas, trustees, volunteers, and protectors of Jain values, thereby strengthening the Jain Shasan. Jain scriptures represent Shrut Gyan (scriptural knowledge), which is acquired through pathshalas.

In today’s digital age, connecting children with pathshalas has become a challenge. Addressing this, the Sangh has launched the “Jain Digital Pathshala” initiative, through which children aged 5 to 14 years are imparted religious education using modern technology.

Currently, under the guidance of the Sangh, over 655 pathshalas in Mumbai are served by more than 1,400 teachers, providing regular religious education to over 75,000 children.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice President Sanjaybhai Jeevanlal Shah stated, “Instilling religious values in children is the primary objective of our organization, and it begins with the pathshala. The eternal principles of Jainism—Ahimsa (non-violence), Aparigraha (non-possessiveness), and Anekantavada (multiplicity of viewpoints)—offer the finest way of life. Children imbued with such values experience holistic development and go on to strengthen Jain Shasan.”

Women’s Wing Vice President Alpaben Sanjaybhai Shah echoed similar sentiments, saying that the Sangh’s core mission is to inculcate values in children, with the pathshala being the first and most vital step.

Treasurer-Trustee Ashok Narsinh Charla added, “Shrut Gyan is attained through the pathshala. It is the most effective medium for shaping a child’s life. Children associated with pathshalas, the festival of right knowledge, are assured a bright future.”

On the occasion of this nationwide religious examination, special honors were accorded to the Sangh’s Founder President Jawaharlal Motilal Shah, President Suresh Devchand Sanghvi, Vice President Sanjaybhai Jeevanlal Shah, Treasurer Ashok Narsinh Charla, and Women’s Wing Vice President Alpaben Sanjaybhai Shah. The event was attended in large numbers by Jain trustees, pathshala students, and eminent members of the Jain community.
