Vadodara (Gujarat) [India], August 15: Navrachana University is all set to host the ICR-2026: International Conference on Resilience – a visionary initiative under the university’s flagship experiential learning program, KHOJ. This cross-disciplinary conference reflects the university’s deep commitment to integrating curriculum with community engagement. Through its focus on Urban and Rural Resilience, KHOJ aims to empower students and faculty alike in shaping sustainable solutions that directly impact lives.

The International conference scheduled to be held in January 2026 will bring together researchers, academicians, practitioners, and policymakers from around the globe to explore how diverse disciplines can converge to address resilience in holistic ways. The International Conference on Resilience arises from the belief that resilience must be reimagined as an interdisciplinary and intersectoral pursuit.

Speaking on the announcement, Prof. Pratyush Shankar, Provost, Navrachana University, said, “Hosting ICR-2026 reflects Navrachana University’s growing reputation as a hub for academic excellence and meaningful global discourse. This conference will not only strengthen our research ecosystem but also contribute significantly to the understanding of resilience in today’s fast-changing world.”

In an era increasingly defined by climate change, economic disruptions, global health emergencies, digital transformation, and socio-political upheavals, resilience has become a cornerstone concept for future-readiness. ICR-2026 seeks to explore resilience as strategic adaptability—not just recovery, but transformation—turning global disruptions into opportunities for systemic innovation, resilient infrastructure, and inclusive development.

What makes this conference distinctive is its deeply interdisciplinary nature, which is also a reflection of the University ethos. The dialogue will span across Urban Planning and Design, Landscape Architecture, Public Health, Economics, Environmental Sciences, Technology, Education, Digital Resilience, Policy Studies, and Psychological Preparedness.

The conference will provide a global platform for scholars, practitioners, policymakers, urban planners, and innovators to engage in critical dialogues and collaborative exploration across five key thematic areas:

    • Environmental Resilience

    • Economic Resilience

    • Societal Resilience

    • Urban Planning, Design & Landscape

    • Information & Digital Resilience

ICR-2026 will feature distinguished thought leaders such as Mr. Rajendra Singh, widely known as the “Waterman of India”; Padma Shri Dr. Shailesh Nayak, former Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences; Mr. Sandeep Virmani, a renowned architect and social ecologist and Prof. Dr. Jakob Zinsstag, a renowned veterinarian who chairs the Scientific Board of the Transdisciplinary Network of the Swiss Academies—among many others. The conference will spotlight international academic collaborations and research-driven sessions, making it a must-attend for those committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and shaping adaptive systems for the 21st century.

Registrations are now open and will close on December 20, 2025. Abstract submissions are also invited from those interested in presenting innovative ideas, fieldwork insights, or academic research. All accepted articles will be published as the Conference Proceedings in a Scopus-indexed book series, published by Springer Nature.
