IMA Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Extends Helping Hand to Flood-Affected Families

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra) [India], October 10: In response to the devastating floods that struck parts of Marathwada due to heavy rainfall, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Branch has extended vital assistance to the affected families through immediate medical and humanitarian support.

    Medical Relief and Health Camps

To prevent the outbreak of post-flood infections and skin diseases, a dedicated team of IMA doctors conducted free health check-up and medicine distribution camps in the affected villages near Paithan. Hundreds of patients were examined, and necessary medicines and health guidance were provided.

    Food Relief Distribution

Following the medical camps, 110 food kits were distributed to families who lost their basic food supplies due to the floods. Each kit contained wheat flour, rice, toor dal, sugar, and biscuit packets. This effort ensured immediate relief to families struggling with essential food shortages.

Rs 2 Lakh Contribution to CM’s Relief Fund

As part of its continued social commitment, IMA Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Branch has contributed Rs 2 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support long-term rehabilitation work in the flood-affected areas. Dr. Anupam Takalkar Heads IMA Team Offering Medical Help, Food Kits, and Rs 2 Lakh Donation for Flood Relief.

The donation cheque was officially handed over to District Collector Mr. Dilip Swami today by Dr. Anupam Takalkar (President, IMA Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), in the presence of Dr. Yashwant Gade (Chairman, Building Plot Committee), Dr. Datta Kadam (Past President), and Dr. Yogesh Lakkas (Secretary).

District Collector Mr. Swami appreciated IMA’s humanitarian initiative and lauded the medical fraternity for their compassion and social responsibility.

“Doctors are not only healers but also protectors of society,” said Dr. Anupam Takalkar while speaking to the media. “We witnessed the pain and suffering of people in flood-hit areas firsthand. After providing medical help and distributing food kits, we felt it was equally important to support the government’s long-term rehabilitation work. Hence, our IMA members voluntarily contributed Rs 2 lakh to the CM Relief Fund. Standing with people in crisis, showing humanity, and extending a helping hand to those in need are at the heart of our profession.”

    A Tradition of Social Responsibility

The IMA Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Branch has consistently been at the forefront of social responsibility beyond healthcare services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the branch carried out extensive relief and awareness activities, organized blood donation camps, and conducted multiple health awareness programs.

This latest flood-relief initiative adds another meaningful chapter to IMA’s ongoing commitment to serve society with compassion, responsibility, and solidarity.
