Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], July 10: This year’s Guru Purnima celebrations at Chitrakut Dham, the native village of Pujya Morari Bapu, were marked by profound reverence, spiritual reflection, and the unveiling of landmark literary and audio-visual tributes. July 10, 2025, will be remembered as a deeply special Guru Purnima—honouring both lineage and legacy.
On the eve of Guru Purnima, a full-length documentary film was launched on Swami Vishnudevananda Giri, the younger brother of Morari Bapu’s grandfather Tribhuvana Das Bapu. Known widely as “Bade Maharaj,” he was the 6th Peethadheeshwar of Kailash Ashram, Rishikesh, Mandaleshwar of Kailash Math, Kashi, head of the Varah Soron temple, and Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of the Niranjani Akhara.
The film traces his inspiring life—from his early childhood in the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, to his spiritual awakening and Sanskrit mastery in Baroda and Kashi, and ultimately, to Rishikesh, where he received Paramhans Sannyas Diksha. His meteoric rise in the spiritual world earned him titles such as Vidya Vachaspati—a distinction conferred both by his gurus and the Government of India. Revered as a Sannyasi Shiromani, Swami Vishnudevananda Giri is recognized as a guiding presence in every major Vedanta tradition across India, with many tracing their guru lineages back to him.
The documentary also featured rare glimpses of his original handwritten notes, annotations, and Tippanis, along with the launch of his original voice recordings, lovingly presented by Morari Bapu.
Two important books were also released on this auspicious occasion: “The Divine Silence of Kailash” – the official English biography of Swami Vishnudevananda Giri and “Sākṣātkār” – a compelling new Hindi work chronicling interviews related with his life and spiritual journey
Another unique offering was the launch of the first volume of a new book capturing evening discourses with Morari Bapu beside his Yagna Kund—an intimate compilation of spontaneous, insightful, and deeply personal conversations in an informal setting.
Finally, the long-awaited Hindi and Gujarati translations of the coffee table book chronicling Morari Bapu’s 12 Jyotirlinga Yatra—a spiritual pilgrimage to the holiest Shiva shrines across India—were also released.
With this multifaceted celebration, Guru Purnima 2025 at Chitrakut Dham stood as a living confluence of heritage, devotion, and scholarship, paying tribute not just to the guru, but to the unbroken parampara of enlightenment that continues to illuminate hearts across the world.
