    New Delhi [India], January 3: The Gujarat Ice Skating Team delivered an impressive performance at the India Open Ice Short Track Speed Skating Championship 2025–26, emerging as one of the standout state contingents at the national event.

    A total of 18 athletes represented Gujarat, competing across multiple categories and showcasing exceptional talent, discipline, and competitive spirit. Their collective efforts resulted in a strong medal haul and several near-podium finishes, underlining Gujarat’s growing prominence in Indian ice skating.

    Gujarat Medal Winners

    • Dhyan Patel – 2 Gold Medals
    • Kavya Patel – 2 Silver Medals & 1 Bronze Medal
    • Tatva Joshi – 3 Bronze Medals
    • Total Medals: 8 (2 Gold, 2 Silver, 4 Bronze)

    Strong Finishes & Competitive Depth

    Several Gujarat skaters narrowly missed podium finishes, reflecting the depth and competitiveness of the team:

    • Dhvaja Patel – 4th place in 2 finals
    • Nirja Lalakiya – 4th place in 3 finals
    • Vihan Patel – 4th place in 2 finals
    • Achal Patel – 4th place in 2 finals, 5th place in 1 race
    • Kathit Patel – 6th place in 1 race, cleared 2 quarterfinals
    • Mahi Solanki – 6th place in 1 race, cleared 2 quarterfinals
    • Maharsh Prajapati – 6th place in 1 race, cleared 1 quarterfinal

    Emerging Talent & Promising Performances

    Young athletes demonstrated strong potential and gained valuable national-level exposure:

    • Viaan Patel – cleared 2 quarterfinals
    • Kalgee Patel – cleared 1 quarterfinal
    • Aagam Gupta – cleared 3 quarterfinals
    • Animeesh Rathod – cleared 2 quarterfinals, competed in 1 final
    • Rudra Vandariya – competed in 2 finals
    • Jeeshan Khan – competed in 2 finals
    • Pushti Rathod – competed in 2 finals, cleared 1 quarterfinal

     Leadership, Mentorship & the Road Ahead

    The Gujarat team’s performance highlights the steady growth of ice skating in the state, driven by structured training and athlete development under the mentorship of Mr. Vishwaraj Jadeja. The championship served as a platform for young skaters to gain competitive exposure and confidence at the national level.

    Officials from the Gujarat Ice Skating fraternity congratulated all athletes, coaches, and support staff for their dedication and discipline. With continued focus on training, infrastructure, and competition exposure, Gujarat is poised to achieve even greater success in upcoming national and international ice skating events.
