New Delhi [India], May 5: As part of the countdown to the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the Embassy of India in Addis Ababa organized a special yoga session on [insert date] at the Indian International School, Addis Ababa. The event aimed to introduce young students to the ancient Indian practice of yoga, highlighting its holistic benefits for physical health, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 400 primary and middle school students, who actively took part in various yoga postures and breathing exercises under the guidance of experienced instructors. The session provided the young learners with a unique opportunity to connect with India’s rich cultural heritage and understand the lifelong value of discipline, balance, and inner peace that yoga promotes.

Ambassador of India to Ethiopia, H.E. Mr. Anil Rai, graced the occasion and encouraged the students through his presence and words. Addressing the gathering, he stated:

“Yoga is not merely a physical exercise; it is a way of life. It connects the body, mind, and soul, fostering harmony and balance. It is truly heartening to see such young students take interest in yoga and practice it with such enthusiasm. Instilling the values of yoga at an early age helps build not just healthy individuals, but also responsible and mindful citizens of the future. This initiative is a step towards nurturing holistic development in our youth.”

Ambassador Rai also expressed his gratitude to the school management, faculty members, and students for their active cooperation in making the event a success. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in strengthening cultural awareness and promoting well-being among younger generations.

The event aligns with the broader objectives of the Government of India’s initiatives such as “Ayushman Bharat” and “Fit India Movement,” and reflects the growing global recognition of yoga as a universal practice for health, harmony, and inner peace.

The Embassy of India extends sincere thanks to the Indian International School community for its unwavering support and commitment to promoting the message of yoga in Ethiopia.
