    Cyclist Firoza reached Ahmedabad for ‘Tour of Dholavira’

    Firoza Dadan, the First Bicycle Mayor of Mumbai, took place on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The ride commenced on 28th January, 2024 and Ms. Dadan has already covered 800 kms.

    Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], February 8: In a pioneering effort to champion sustainable travel through cultural exploration, Smart Commute Foundation (SCF) was thrilled to announce the commencement of the “Tour of Dholavira” bicycle tour from Mumbai to Dholavira. The press conference unveiling the hero of this tour, Firoza Dadan, the First Bicycle Mayor of Mumbai, took place on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The ride commenced on 28th January, 2024 and Ms. Dadan has already covered 800 kms.

    Joining Firoza Dadan in this pioneering initiative are Mr. Rakesh Mehta, District Secretary, Rotary District 3055, and the dedicated team supporting the cause. 

    The Tour of Dholavira is a 1047-kilometer cycling journey from Mumbai to Dholavira, Gujarat, covering UNESCO sites such as Champaner, Ahmedabad Old City, Rani ka Vaav, and Dholavira. The initiative, supported by IndianOil Corporation Limited and other partners, seeks to promote sustainable travel, conscious tourism, and cultural exploration. The primary goal of the Tour of Dholavira is to inspire individuals, organizations, and all stakeholders to embrace sustainable living through the exploration of the rich cultural tapestry of the region and the country. This journey aligns with the commitment to eco-friendly practices and responsible tourism. As the First Bicycle Mayor of Mumbai and Director of Smart Commute Foundation, Firoza brings a wealth of experience and passion for cycling, sustainability, and cultural appreciation.

    The Tour of Dholavira is made possible with the generous support of Oil & Gas behemoth, IndianOil Corporation Limited, and other partners dedicated to fostering a commitment to eco-friendly practices and responsible tourism.

    During the journey so far Firoza has received overwhelming response from all quarters right from service organisations such as the Rotary Club chapters en route as well small and large organisations and Corporates. 

    One particularly significant support was from Amul at their site in Anand. Mr. Amit Vyas, Managing Director, Amul had a detailed discussion with Ms. Dadan where the mutual commitment to the cause of sustainability was discussed. Mr. Vyas also conveyed his best wishes to her from the entire team of Amul Diary. 

    This press conference was an opportunity to delve deeper into the motivations and aspirations of Firoza Dadan and the Smart Commute Foundation as they embark on this commendable journey for sustainable living. 

    At the event, Firoza Dadan stated that I believe that every revolution starts with a single pedal stroke. Through cycling, we not only explore the beauty of our surroundings but also pave the way for a sustainable and conscious future. Join me on this incredible journey as we pedal towards a greener, healthier planet—one revolution at a time.
