Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, in the presence of Minister of State for Home Shri Harsh Sanghavi, flagged off 28 newly allotted advanced mobile forensic vans for districts of the state from Gandhinagar.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, new time-relevant criminal laws have been implemented. With the implementation of these laws, forensic investigation has been made mandatory in crimes punishable with more than 7 years of imprisonment, thereby enhancing the role of forensic science.

At crime or accident scenes, mobile forensic vans with scientific officers play a crucial role in conducting primary scientific investigations and collecting evidence. With more such vans becoming operational in the state, forensic capabilities have been further strengthened. Currently, there are 47 mobile forensic vans, and with the addition of these 28 new vans, the total will rise to 75. This will enable forensic investigations to be carried out more quickly and effectively.

On this occasion, Minister of State for Home Shri Harsh Sanghavi said that these mobile forensic labs are equipped with facilities for on-the-spot NDPS inspections, DNA testing, and equipment required in cases of fire, accidents, or any kind of attack. All these facilities make the vans an important contributor to Gujarat’s peace, safety, and security from today onwards.

It is noteworthy that these 28 new mobile forensic vans have been allotted through grants from both the central and state governments. Equipped with advanced forensic tools and instruments, these vans have been prepared based on the opinions and feedback of forensic experts currently working in districts and cities. With these mobile forensic vans, forensic services will become more accessible across the state, ensuring quicker and more effective investigations of crimes.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department and to the Chief Minister Shri M. K. Das, State Police Chief Shri Vikas Sahay, FSL Director Shri H. P. Sanghavi, along with senior police officials and other officers were also present.
