New Delhi [India], May 10: Award-winning journalist and author, Veena Rao, is all set to unveil her debut novel, Purple Lotus, to Indian readers following its success in the U.S. The book in India is being published by a Delhi-based publishing house, TreeShade Books, to make it more accessible for Indian readers. The official release of the book in India is scheduled for June 2024.
Published in the U.S. in 2020, the book has already garnered significant acclaim, including the 2021 American Fiction Award, finalist status for the 2021 Georgia Author of the Year, and recognition as a finalist in the multicultural and women’s fiction categories of the 2021 International Book Awards. Veena Rao, an award-winning journalist and author, hails from India but now calls the Southern United States her home. As the founding editor of NRI Pulse, a popular news publication in Atlanta, she holds the distinction of being recognized by The Limca Book of Records as the first Indian woman to edit and publish a newspaper outside India. Veena is passionate about promoting South Asian literary voices in the US through her news publication and as a board member of the Traveling South Asian Literary Festival.
