FlyingFish Scuba School is Goa’s premier dive centre, and there are a lot of things that go into giving it that title!

Started in 2016, As North Goa’s Youngest centre, we burst onto the scene with unparalleled enthusiasm and passion for diving. Since then, we have established a strong presence in Calangute, Goa.

We offer courses for both beginners and seasoned divers who want to further their skills. We also offer one-day experiences for people who have no prior diving experience, and what’s more, they can dive even if they don’t know how to swim.

We are aligned with SSI and offer their courses, but our globally certified instructors are certified under both PADI and SSI.

Our one-day experiences range from a 20-minute dive to two 40-minute dives, with the option of two 20-minute dives and just one 40-minute dive available too. These are for people who are not certified in diving, and they, at all times, have one of our diving professionals with them to oversee and guide them through the dive one-on-one.

Our day starts at 6 AM. We greet guests and lead them to the swimming pool, where we train them in confined water. We take our pool training very seriously and do not take people who we feel have not been trained enough into the ocean if they aren’t comfortable in the pool. They even have a choice to get a full refund on their advance if they don’t feel comfortable and confident after the pool training.

After that, we head to the jetty where our beautiful 32-seater boat sets sail from. Depending on the weather conditions, it’s a 45-60 minute boat ride, where it’s highly likely to see dolphins enroute!

We arrive at Grande Island with a beautiful sunny sky and a calm sea. Being so excited to jump into the water, we kit up on the way and get going soon after the boat stops. The water is a nice 28 degrees, which some people find cool, some find it comfortable, and some find it warm.

We start our first dive at a 1940s shipwreck called Suzy’s Wreck. The ship’s name is S.S. Rita, and it was said to be carrying some sort of cargo/railway equipment. There are parts of it scattered all around the seabed, and as we dive, we try to imagine what it would have looked like in its prime, now housing countless fish underwater.

After completing an unforgettable experience, captured in our SD cards in the form of photos and videos for everyone to cherish for as long as they want, we climb back up and soak up some sun till the boat slightly moves to our next fan-favourite site, coral garden. Here, live a variety of different corals that a totally different array of fish can proudly call their home. We dive, enthralled in the beauty of the corals, not knowing where the 40 minutes of our dive even went!

We ended our dives and climbed back up on the boat, eating the delicious food waiting for us that our growling stomachs wanted, but our hearts were craving for something else, craving for more of the ocean, but satisfied by what we got, knowing we’ll come back again for another spectacular experience soon!
