New Delhi [India], December 24: Couture Runway Week Season 8 witnessed a soulful celebration of India’s rich textile heritage as Mahima Vastram unveiled its much-anticipated collection, “Desi Dhagga,” on one of the capital’s most prestigious fashion platforms. Hosted at The Nikunj, National Highway 8, near IGI Airport, New Delhi, the showcase emerged as a powerful statement on tradition, sustainability, and contemporary couture, leaving an indelible mark on the audience.

Rooted deeply in India’s handloom legacy, Mahima Vastram’s presentation was far more than a fashion showcase—it was a cultural narrative woven with emotion, craftsmanship, and pride. The brand beautifully highlighted the timeless elegance of Indian handloom while reimagining it for the modern couture consumer. Every ensemble showcased on the runway reflected the dedication of skilled artisans, age-old weaving traditions, and the enduring beauty of indigenous textiles that continue to define India’s cultural identity.

The collection “Desi Dhagga” drew inspiration from the very threads that bind India’s diverse handloom heritage. Featuring rich textures, intricate detailing, and fluid silhouettes, the designs paid homage to tradition while maintaining a refined, modern aesthetic. The runway came alive with creations that balanced heritage and innovation, proving that handloom fashion can be both contemporary and aspirational for today’s generation.

Conceptualised and designed by Riya Singh, the creative force behind Mahima Vastram, the collection reflected her deep commitment to sustainable fashion and Indian craftsmanship. Known for her emotional connection to handloom textiles, Riya Singh’s vision transformed the runway into a canvas of storytelling, where each garment carried the soul of its origin and the hands that crafted it. Her design philosophy resonated strongly throughout the showcase, making Mahima Vastram one of the most talked-about presentations of the evening.

Adding grandeur to the show, Jeet Gurjar, Mr. Haryana Runway Model, walked as the Super Model, commanding the runway with remarkable confidence, charisma, and a powerful stage presence. His poised walk and commanding aura elevated the visual narrative of the collection, perfectly complementing the strength and elegance embodied in the designs.

The collection reached its pinnacle as Mangala Vidhate Rajan graced the ramp as the Show Stopper, leaving the audience mesmerised with her regal presence and effortless grace. The opening act was led by Shamparikta Das as the Show Opener, who set a strong and impactful tone for the showcase, while Subha SR appeared as the Special Model, adding a distinctive charm and depth to the presentation.

True to this vision, the collection stood as a heartfelt tribute to India’s weavers and artisans, acknowledging their invaluable contribution as the backbone of the fashion industry.

Behind the scenes, the seamless execution of the show was supported by a dedicated team including Shiva Thakur Rajput and Prashant Verma, whose efforts played a crucial role in bringing the designer’s vision to life.
