New Delhi [India], July 8: Born and raised in a lower-middle-class orthodox Bengali family, Gargi’s journey began with academic success, scoring well in her board exams and pursuing a degree in optometry. But academics weren’t her only strength. She was also deeply passionate about the arts. A trained Bharatnatyam classical dancer, folk dancer, Bollywood performer, and theatre artist, she excelled in cultural activities from a young age.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Gargi served the country with full dedication as a medical professional. But witnessing loss, grief, and widespread despair ignited a desire in her to bring joy and hope through entertainment. She began creating acting videos, which quickly went viral and opened doors in the Bengali film and television industry. She went on to act in numerous TV shows, films, web series, music videos, and commercials.
Eventually, she took a bold step—moving to Mumbai, the City of Dreams, to chase what once seemed like an impossible goal: becoming a Pan-Indian artist. Interestingly, this wasn’t her first time in Mumbai—she had visited the city in childhood for her father’s medical treatment, and back then, she disliked it. Today, however, Mumbai is her favourite city—so much so that she bought a house there within a year. From a struggler in Versova village to a proud Mumbaikar, her transformation is truly inspiring.
When she arrived in Mumbai, she faced the daunting challenge of adjusting to a new culture while financially supporting herself. Despite having built a name in Bengali entertainment, in Mumbai she was starting from scratch. She took on brand collaborations, attended events consistently—sometimes as many as five in a single day while battling fever—never letting adversity stop her.
But her struggles didn’t end there. Gargi endured loneliness, homesickness, and the constant pressure of creating content. There were moments when she felt like giving up, but her unwavering determination to make her family proud kept her going.
Turning Pain into Power
Amidst the hustle, acting became her solace. She refocused on her acting journey, enrolling in workshops led by Saurabh Sachdeva and Atul Mongia. Acting became her therapy—a way to express her pain and triumphs. Every role, every scene became a reflection of her journey. Today, she collaborates with top brands and stars in renowned OTT shows on a national level.
And now, adding another feather to her cap, Actress and Content Creator Gargi Kundu is set to star in Munawar Faruqi’s much-awaited new show, “The Society,” streaming soon on Jio Hotstar Sparks. This marks another milestone in her dynamic career, cementing her position as a versatile and powerful performer in the digital space.

Gargi’s story isn’t just about survival. She has faced cheating, abuse, threats, and heartbreak, yet she never gave up. She continues to stand tall—without any godfather or external support, proving that dreams can be realized through sheer grit and self-belief.
