Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 26: The Hotel Sahara Star grand theater hall became home to fashion, film, and philanthropy as Persona Fashion Film 2026, the thematic of which was a desire to connect the world, premiered its independent feature Fashion Unfumbled, presented by A New You Rise High on the evening of 7th February 2026. Fashion Unfumbled Film Directed & Produced by Debashree Chakroborty. The night established itself not as a debut but as an assertion of how fashion film is fundamentally changing the formulation of social stories.
It was also the time when the fashion and lifestyle magazine was introduced in the name of Valancy and Swapno Ka Udaan, a world wide program of supporting and empowering girl child education was introduced. Combined, the three launches represented an effort toward a strategic initiative of matching creative industries to quantifiable social purpose.
As a filmmaker and creative entrepreneur, directed and produced by Debashree Chakroborty, Fashion Unfumbled is an emerging movement of independent fashion cinema that emphasises a story over size. As a project that is purpose-led, the film breaks the classic fashion archetype through inclusivity, accessibility and representation in real life.

A Changing Story of Fashion.
In contrast to other commercial fashion films, where the movie depends immensely on the tried and tested models and celebrity faces, in “Fashion Unfumbled” the movie hinges on non-model talents of Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai. They were chosen after two fierce national auditions, with most of them being without any modelling or acting experience. Their metamorphosis on the screen emphasized the main argument of the film, that fashion is something that everyone owns.
According to industry observers, this paradigm represents a more general trend of increasing influence of regional talent pipelines and independent creators on content narratives across the wider creative economy in India.
Divisional Existence and Inter-country Cooperation.
The premiere attracted a mixed crowd of both film and fashion industry personnel such as actor Aashit Chatterjee who plays a role in the film; Delhi-based journalist Ayanjit Sen; Dr. Bataoul Salman and the representatives of FutureVerse in Dubai. Their involvement marked the increasingly interconnected cross-border bookings between the Indian and the Middle Eastern creative networks.
Beyond a Premiere
The evening was more a multi-layered cultural experience than a mere movie showcase as it was well curated to include runway aesthetics, movie narrative and philanthropic message. The staging was conceptualized by Chakroborty herself, which helps her to claim her role in the emerging independent movement in fashion film in India.
As the fashion and content industries in India continue to overlap, Persona Fashion Film 2026 is an indication that creativity is no longer deemed only as glamour but is being used as an instrument of advocacy and representation.
With the lights gone at Sahara Star, Fashion Unfumbled was not only a film debut, but also an indicator of an industry in transition, in which independent vision, inclusivity and even social conscience are redefining the grammar of fashion stories.
